SEI Gets Rolling In Aurora, Colorado

What makes Costco deliver for its 129 million members? Logistics. This means its fleet of trucks needs to be kept in tip-top shape.

One big part of that? Costco’s Maintenance Facility in Aurora. Situated next to its existing depot, this new 50,000-square-foot facility will be on 15.5 acres, promising even greater operational efficiency. Brian Weatherford, Project Manager, is driving the work forward.

“We love that Costco entrusts us with a variety of projects. This one, in particular, is one we’re enjoying. By connecting to the depot, this site will serve both as truck parking and provide a convenient place for any overflow.”

Of course, most projects have unique twists. And, in this one, Colorado’s notoriously fickle soil poses a challenge.

“Soil in this region is expansive. That means you have to excavate a good deal more than you might expect elsewhere. In the case of the building, we had to excavate ten feet and then build the soil back up. And we had to excavate three feet for the parking lot before doing the same.”

However, this isn’t presenting a problem to SEI’s experienced team. With a project start date of April 22, it appears we’ll meet the turnover date in December 2024. Right on schedule, just the way it should be.
