GFL Project Is Off To A Clean Start

After several months of meticulous engineering and planning, SEI is well underway in constructing GFL’s newest recycling facility in Apex, North Carolina. And Bryan Weatherford, our Project Manager, is leading the charge.

“We love working on new kinds of projects,” Weatherford offers, “And this one has opened new horizons for us.” GFL Environmental Inc., a provider of recycling and waste collection services throughout North America, tapped SEI in Fall 2022 to be responsible for the design/build project.

“This project has allowed us to demonstrate our full range of capabilities, “Weatherford adds. “Instead of just construction, we’re responsible for everything—the architecture, the civil engineering, and the construction. That gives our client a single point of contact on every aspect of the job.”

Despite being a new kind of project for SEI, our strengths in planning and logistics have ensured things are going smoothly.

“Our client is really happy with our progress on the project,” Weatherford comments. “We really appreciate the faith they’ve had in us. By proving ourselves on this project, we hope to participate in many similar projects.”

Due for July 12 completion, the system that is being implemented will filter leachate produced by the landfill to be pumped to the Holly Springs wastewater treatment facility. The permeate produced from the reverse osmosis system will reduce current disposal costs and reduce odor and downstream treatment of the leachate produced by the landfill.

Thanks to GFL for tapping us for this project. SEI is excited to help fulfill your mission of making a more sustainable world.
